I am still amazed at the bits and pieces of strange, unusual and just everyday normal life stuff that is part of the Chinese lifestyle. This actually may be normal in any part of a big city, an alley way with a slope for cycles and anything with wheels, but since I grew up on a flat surface it amuses me how others have adapted to hills and steps. Most of Florida is wheelchair accessible, it is the law, but here is a different story. So I was imagining that someone put this sloping concrete overlay on the stairs to help someone to get up and down those stairs. I know that I have climbed more stairs since moving here a year and a half ago than I have in 10 years total!
It is so cute to watch these little guys. In the evening near our building there is an outdoor place where the kids get some help learning to skate. I am glad to see the safety gear. Not a typical thing here.
So while the moms and grandmoms are dancing and the fathers watching, the little guys are skating. Makes for a lot of activity all around. Really, if you get to feeling a little lonesome, all you need to do is step out your door and greet the people on the street. They are every where! Especially now during the school break. I can't get a seat on the buses or subways because of all the kids!
Well, I leave you with Mr. Bean. He is very popular here but I didn't expect to see his mug as a furniture brand.
Smile and people will smile with you. Frown and they all scatter!
Love and hugs.....Cindy
