Mimosa pudica (from Latin: pudica "shy, bashful or shrinking"; also called sensitive plant, sleepy plant and the touch-me-not), is a creeping annual or perennial herb often grown for its curiosity value: the compound leaves fold inward and droop when touched or shaken, due to evolution from predators, re-opening minutes later. The species is native to South America and Central America, but is now a pantropical weed. It grows mostly in shady areas, under trees or shrubs.
Don't you just love the evolution idea! Not! Can you imagine that a plant has the ingenuity to change his molecular being to insure its survival? Does it even know it's alive? Well, anyway this little weed-looking like plant is interesting. I took a video of it closing when I touched it. Check it out here on:

This ad is everywhere but we feel it says more about how the child is the boss in the family than what it is advertising (real estate). It is not a joke, most families spoil their children. It is not considered loving to correct a child. So therefore, at stores, in homes, and on the street a child touches what he wants, jumps and climbs on what he wants to and often overrides his parents commands. It takes all I have to not snatch one up and discipline it. Oh well... not my problem.
He s thinking.......
"Don't even think about taking me off this thing. Just put another coin in!"
"So you have a problem with my hairdo?"
"Someday I will have hair and I won't have to wear this silly head thing"
"This lady looks nice. Maybe I'll give her a smirk."
Okay, that's the babies, let's go for some pets. There are many here. Most are purebreds. The white cat hangs out in front of our building begging for attention along with a tabby that runs when most come by. I have befriended them with some tuna now and then. Some of the dogs have the funkiest haircuts. They are taking the Pomeranian dog and cutting it's hair to look like a teddy bear. Awesomely cute! I will try to get a picture of one when I see it.
Hope you all are surviving the summer. I am looking forward to a rest from the heat. Soon we will be in cooler weather in Beijing. That trip is coming in only a few weeks.
Love and hugs.....Cindy
