When we moved here this spot was nothing but dirt. Now, 6 months later, the doors are opened. I was upset when we returned from Taiwan and found out that they had removed the crane! I really wanted to see how they removed it! Thankfully there was no fireworks because they are banned here. Yippee! I don't like the noise. This is an elementary school. They let them out for lunch at noon. The kids file out in groups and walk down the street and disappear so I don't know where they go. I am told they don't feed them in school unless it is a pre-school. Many older ones walk home or go to a near by "hole in the wall" place for lunch.
I haven't caught a ride in this thing yet but I will one day. Usually I just walk. I was forced to take a scooter once but it was a slow ride, not bad. Oh, we have health insurance now. It was incredibly reasonable. We paid $159.00 for a one year policy that covers us both here. Amazing! Yes, it has a limit of 45,000.00 but that goes a long way here. So we can breath a sigh of relief. Back in US we had to pay triple that a MONTH for insurance that pays a lot less than this one.
I found dolls!! Well, they aren't mine. They are located at a restaurant. The whole place had dolls and stuff toys, my kind of place. Food was greasy, though. But that is normal for China.
What is this man doing? He is writing a protest. The scroll is about 40 ft long and the man was crippled in his legs. I was told by someone with us that it is a protest against the government. He certainly got an audience. There was a crowd!
We are doing well here. John has gotten busy with the some interesting stuff and I am doing the usual. I am enjoying the lifestyle. Much slower paced but yet we are busy enough to keep from getting bored. I am desperately seeking a lower price ticket to USA for this coming December. We are excited about returning and seeing you all. We still pinch ourselves to see if we are really here, it's not just a dream. I have come to realize though, that, where ever you live, it pretty much is the same. People are looking for answers and striving to survive. The people here want to be happy, too. And, just like in the USA, they don't know how.
Tho' miles apart, your still in our hearts!
Love and hugs....Cindy
