We are doing better. I can finally put weight on my knee but still relying on a crutch . John's chest cold is improving. We actually had a thunder storm here last night. It wasn't even close to the intensity of those in Florida but it was interesting to see one from the 13th floor. Can't wait to get back to roaming the city. A friend wants to take me to a big bookstore. I am hoping to find children books in English to help me with my 5 yr old student. Life is so much slower here since we are not working and don't have a lot of demands on us yet. That is good since we have already experienced what we knew was going to happen...getting sick. Hope you all are well. Keep those comments coming! Love and hugs...Cindy
Hey all! I downloaded these pictures from my phone. We were walking thru a nursery and I spotted this plant. Not sure what it is called but I am told that it "eats" insects. Wish I could send one home to mom! She would have fun with this one. We are doing better. I can finally put weight on my knee but still relying on a crutch . John's chest cold is improving. It's another day in China and more surprises! Yesterday, I had a nice time in a park with some friends. I learned how to eat chicken feet. I didn't say I ATE chicken feet but I keenly observed those who were. As I curiously observed my friend take a bite of the "claw" and glued my eyes to her mouth to see if she actually swallowed the bones, the poor dear could hardly chew do to the giggles. She thought I was amusing as I was amusing about her talent in eating a chicken foot! There were a variety of foods brought. I shared a container of deviled eggs. My American friends were ecstatic! Food from home! The others loved them and wanted to know how to fix them. Ah! I may have started a new thing here in China! We also played some games. Remember the one I did at the last baby shower with the straws and pacifiers? Well, I had no pacifiers, in fact, I never see them here. So I used 2 small hand sanitizers that had a loop on the end and chopsticks. Worked good and what a hoot seeing them pass the bottles from chopstick to chopstick. In case you don't know the game, you have the stick in your mouth and without using your hands you pass the object from stick to stick. Fun to do and to watch! It would have been a perfect day except John was feeling real lousy with his cold and just showed up briefly and I sprained my knee. Ouch! I walked home just fine but did it swell! I have been sitting home all day with my foot up, sliding on the floor from place to place, (I even swept the floor on my butt) hoping it will heal quickly. I have had trouble with that knee before but not like this. My poor husband spent a few hours, feeling poorly, looking for a pair of crutches. He finally found a pair at a chemist store. A funny name for a store, huh! I am now mobile and off the floor! I do plan of taking it easy for the week or as long as I need to heal. Gives me plenty of time to study my Chinese!
Thanks for all your support. Could someone please call Milly W. and Alma T. (they don't have internet) and tell them hello from John and me. Love and hugs...Cindy |
